Students in the News!
The undergraduate alumni of the School of Meteorology, Brice Coffer, Lindsay Maudlin and Peter Veals won 1st place in the Graduate Division of the poster contest for the 12th Annual American Meteorological Student Conference in Jan. 2013. The poster was based on their Capstone Project completed while they were seniors at the School. The poster was entitled "Dryline Position Errors in experimental convection-allowing NSSL-WRF Model Forecasts and the Operational NAM." Their mentor for their Capstone project, who was also a co-author on the project, was Dr. Adam Clark of the National Severe Storms Laboratory/Cooperative Institute for Mesoscale Meteorology and an Adjunct Faculty of the School of Meteorology. Brice, Lindsay and Peter have gone onto graduate school at North Carolina State University, University of Arizona and University of Utah respectively. Congratulations to these four outstanding individuals.
In addition, Jennifer Newman, a PhD student at the School, received the Commendable Award for her poster presented during the Fourth Conference on Weather, Climate and the New Energy Economy. Jennifer was also selected as a student representative on the Renewable Energy Subcommittee of the Energy Committee of the American Meteorology Society. Congratulations to Jennifer on both of these honors.
